Now that this chapter 7 of my life (haaaa) has come to a close, I felt the need to write this review for Chen and Tran. Visited with Rex Tran to discuss options concerning bankruptcy. The hour was free and during that time he asked questions and typed the responses into his computer. That way if we decided to proceed the filing would be very easy. It was our understanding that it takes 3-4 months from start to receiving the final papers from the court. Chapter 7 costs were about $1600 for everything. However one could not get any additional debt during those 3-4 months, so getting student loan money would be an issue while in the bankruptcy process. Mr Tran was very helpful, professional and answered all our questions. This is his specialty and he certainly was very knowledgeable about it. If we decide to proceed we would definitely use him to do the bankruptcy.

From the moment we began the process to the moment we met in bankruptcy court, the time it took was about 4 months. It only took about 2 months after that to start seeing changes on my credit report. Rex was truly awesome. *The following does not reflect Rex's work or my experience with Rex: I did see other people with other attorneys and different situations on my appointment date. You do see and hear what other people are facing. So, as I have already suggested that you be honest with Rex, I do it because I noticed some people were not being accepted as it seemed that things were missing in their files (be it bank statements, lender information, assets, etc.). I also noticed that some attorneys were present without the person applying for bankruptcy. Those persons appointments were pushed back to other dates, and prolongated the process for them. So, be present, stay on top of all emails and calls you get from Rex - do NOT procrastinate, so that you don't create any of these experiences for yourself, because again Rex is awesome!

After several years of trying to keep up with interest payments on several credit cards, I finally made the decision to file bankruptcy. I was paying minimum payments only and the debt was just not going away. It was going to take 20-30 years and I couldn't use the cards in the meantime I searched several local attorney's and had phone conversations with 3 including Rex. Without hesitation the conversation with Rex was the most productive and reassuring regarding the potential of a full discharge. On the first meeting with Rex, he was organized, asked the right questions and gave me details of what I needed to provide so he could file. The timeline was right on. I got my case transferred to Mr. Tran's office after the firm that I originally signed with transferred my case to his firm (due to the original firm's acquisition by Jacoby & Meyers). I've had a great experience working with him and was able to resolve all issues through email and was very responsive and attentive to my questions. I actually found the Law offices of Chen & Tran through Yelp! After reading all of the reviews I instantly emailed them to set up a Free Consultation. I knew right from the meeting I would be working with them. Rex made everything so smooth and easy. Micheal came with me the day of my meeting and was very nice and reassuring everything would be just fine. I would definitely refer them in a heart beat. I know the circumstances are what a lot of people try to avoid but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do & im Thankful I would them 🙂

I was really nervous about filing bankruptcy, but they made the whole process go smoothly. They always answered my calls and emails and any questions that came up. They are so professional and patient, I would highly recommend them.

So where do I start? Ofcourse no one likes to talk about bankruptcy, but when the unfortunate occasion does show up, it's not a stressful one that makes you pull hair when you work with Michael and Rex. My husband and I were having some financial problems so we consulted with Rex to decide if we should file for bankruptcy and he went through everything with us. He also discussed all of our financial problems into deciding either we should or should not file. He was very helpful and answered every questions that we have and he made sure we have all of the information that we need. When we were in the process of filing our bankruptcy, we got to meet Michael and he was very helpful. He helped us with all of our paperwork and explained the whole process with us. He returned all of our phone calls and emails promptly and took time to answer any of our questions that we have. He made it clear and easy for us to understand what we were doing and what the process is. On the day of our meeting, he showed up and explained everything to us. He was so courteous and helpful with us. If there was any changes, he would let us know right away.When we got our discharge, he emailed us and let us know.

Previously my income was too high to qualify for a Chapter 7 BK because I was single and had a decent income. Michael went over all of my numbers and said I wouldn't qualify and that was my main concern. I had done my research and I made it clear that I only wanted to file BK if I qualified. We met a couple of times and it was only a matter of time before I was able to qualify. I went ahead and paid for their services even though we weren't ready to file. They started working on my paperwork for the BK and they followed up with me every month for about 3 or 4 months, each time updating my information and seeing where we stood on qualifying. Finally we were able to qualify and they went ahead and filed my BK paperwork with the court. I received a call from them a couple of days after my Court meeting and everything is going as planned. It was very inexpensive in my case and I did call a few places to compare before even meeting with The Law Offices of Chen & Tran. The main reason I went with them, and I'm glad I did, was because I wanted to meet and work with Attorneys, not just some Paralegal or someone that was just going to fill out the paperwork for me.
